HL3-When Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 This was bugging the $h!t out of me, like everyone else I went to google and tried everything. I am an IT guy so this was killing me I could not figure this out. I tried different cables, usb a, usb c, all my usb ports, nothing was working. I have this issue as well, so I reached out to apple and this is expected behavior after 3 weeks of log gathering and emails. The removed the feature in ios18 that allows us to receive the text pop up on the screen outside of the carplay app - example, sirus/xm app is on your vehicle screen, you will no longer get a text pop up, just the text sound will occur. If you want to see the text pop up you have to be in carplay! I had a friend who was still on ios17, got his phone connected to my vehicle apple carplay, zero issues with test pops in any app on my vehicle screen. Now, if you disconnect carplay and just use Bluetooth to your vehicle, everything still works - note: the display text pop up is different for every vehicle manufacture but it does pop up. I have tested this on four different vehicles and it works on Bluetooth. Chevy/GMC Jeep (uconnect software blows!) Mercedes Ford Now, if you have a newer vehicle that allows wireless carplay, you have two choices: 1-keep connecting to carplay and live with this BS change 2-remove your carplay setup for your vehicle from your phone and vehicle so it no longer recognizes your phone under carplay, and ONLY connect Bluetooth and use your vehicles Bluetooth options and menus. OH, and here is one more item that pissed me off - You can NO LONGER take a video while driving! You might ask, why the F would you take a video while driving? Glad you asked! I personally used the video option while driving and connected to CarPlay as security against bad drivers/road rage or for video evidence while driving if needed. This does work as it should while using Bluetooth. I hope this answers yalls questions. Quote
Don Red Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I had this problem too. Reset network settings and back to normal. No further problems Quote
Don Red Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 This is happened to me and I found out that if you have the FACE ID required to open your messages app on your phone then that app will no longer show in CarPlay. Once I removed that it showed back up again instantly and everything worked again perfectly. Quote
Dwaynepolt Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Even connecting to CarPlay has been hit or miss since iOS 18. My Silverado is a crapshoot whether it even recognizes my phone as a CarPlay device. My Indian motorcycle hasn’t worked for CarPlay since the update. The Silverado is wireless and the Indian is wired. Been driving me nuts Quote
369DYF Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I bought the magic link and I’ve had zero issues since. I was having issues with the cord and the update Quote
Harley90 Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Apple is fully aware of this on the Apple forums: Carplay text after ios18 update Since ios18 update, text messages do not pop up or announce in carplay unless the vehicle screen is the carplay message screen. They will not pop up on any other screen. It will read them but but show the message. I don't want the audio announcement but I want to see the visual announcement when I'm on the radio screen Quote
