Roblox is making changes for pre-teen users after reports that it failed to protect children

Roblox has emailed parents about the new parental control update, and I have some questions about it.

If the child is under 13, would the parent be required to create a parental account for the child to use Roblox at all?

If the child is under 13, and before the update they have chat turned on, when the update is released, will the chat (and other similar features) be turned off, and only able to be enabled via a parental account?

If the child is under 13 but over the age of 9, will they be able to access moderate violence (assuming that is the equivalent to 13+ games) games by default, or will the parent be require

I want to know what people think on this new change Roblox is going to make starting next month.

They are going to remove the ability to set a parental pin and start rolling our parental accounts on Roblox so parents can manage their children, sounds great. But I don’t think the parental pin should be removed, because I think it is a vital and crucial part of account security, at least has been for me.

There has been lots of cases of accounts being hacked on roblox and then you can’t do much about it if you don’t have the necessary proof to get your account recovered by the support team. And this has happened to me too, as the hacker changed the email address of the account so I couldn’t reset the password, but thankfully I got it back as I found screenshots and videos of me with my account from way back. And immediately after set a parental pin so it would be an extra layer of protection for the account so hackers can’t change the email info or other contacts even if they bypass the 2FA of the account.

In my case even though I had 2FA and a randomly generated password that was 16 characters with random letters, numbers and special characters which I change every 6-12 months, the hacker still managed to get in the account through cookies and requested 2FA codes from the email linked to the account.

So my point is that I think the parental change is great BUT… they should NOT remove the parental pin as it is a very small but very important and effective method to keeping accounts safe, at least until the owner of the account can be able to act on the hacker being in the account. At least if they want to remove it from being a parental lock thing, they can change it to being a settings lock pin (so basically a name change).

Let me know what you guys think, and if you have experienced something close like me.

Summary: Parental pin is a very important lock method for settings in Roblox accounts so it should not be removed.

I am an adult. I use parent pin to keep my shit safe. So now I'll need to make a damn alt that can be compromised that can have control over my main... In order to have extra security?

I ain't gonna do that. So now it just means I have less security. And as someone who's account is continuously barraged and attacked by PGers... This just makes my account, and items, less safe.

I appreciated their update that makes hacking you via cookies obsolete. I remember opting in to that. So that's helpful. I don't know why they would take 5 steps forward and then 3 steps back by removing this tho
