Is it stupid to buy a DJI drone right now?

I’m wanting my first drone and been looking at the Mini 3 pro. What’s the future look like for dji? Will we even be able to use that brand if they pass legislature on it? It sure looks like they’ll be shut down. Seeing the way they are using drones in the war between Russia and the Ukraine, it certainly doesn’t look good. Please someone educate me.

It's pretty unlikely that they make it illegal to use current models (even though that would violate the reason they've given for putting the ban in place) but the way the ban is written, it's possible. It's more likely the ban ends up just keeping DJI from registering any more new models with the FCC, but we won't know until the ban is in place and the FCC gives us their decision as to how they're going to enforce it.

One way to think about it: NO ONE will be able to replicate the tech & quality of DJI drones + the cameras they use for a solid decade+ once things go into effect. There’s potential for them to at worst hold their value as the supply dwindles and demand increases or stays the same IF, DJI is forced to pull all drone sales from the US or not be able to sell any new drones.
