Leon Houw Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 They're trying to spin Wagoneer off as a sub-brand similar to what Hyundai initially did with Genesis. Hyundai Genesis, Hyundai Genesis coupe -> eventually Genesis stand-alone sub-brand. Quote
Don Red Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 IIRC, those plans got cancelled a few months ago, and they're just sticking with Jeep for everything. Not to say they won't still try and differentiate things like Hyundai did with the original Genesis and Equus by cutting out most of the Jeep branding or something, but it won't be a standalone brand. Which makes it even more confusing that they stuck to the Wagoneer S name after saying the plans for a Wagoneer sub-brand are dead. Quote
UselessKit Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 I really don't understand why Jeep is trying to go up market. No one considers it a luxury brand. Why can't they opt for a similar strategy like Mazda? Where they make their mainline models compete against Chevy, Honda, Toyota. Then with the same car but with a higher trim level, make the interiors more luxurious to straddle against Acura, Mazda, BMW? I honestly don't think Jeep customers will buy an electric cars. I also don't think luxury car buyers would even consider a Jeep. Typical eurocentric Stellantis not knowing Jeep's primary customer base. They really are dropping the ball with this brand in the US.
