  1. If you're all about playing the latest Nintendo exclusives, then the Switch 2 is your go-to. But if you can live without them, shift your focus to the Steam Deck and Legion Go S. Between those two, I'd lean toward the Legion Go S. Aside from the Steam Deck’s OLED screen, the Go S is a step up in nearly every other area.
  2. I use the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and find it pretty user-friendly. Once it’s set up—which is the most involved part—it’s mostly just turning the dial to find a function or swiping up to access the menu. For calls, it’s simple: swipe up, tap the phone icon, then either dial the number or select a contact. I’ve customized my watch face to show battery, date, time, steps, and heart rate, which keeps things clean and useful. Some smartwatches support cellular data, which can be a big help if your dad might need to make calls or send messages without being near his phone or Wi-Fi—just something to weigh against the extra monthly cost. Battery life really varies, especially if GPS is on, so if there’s a chance he might wander or get disoriented, making sure the watch is fully charged daily is crucial. Thankfully, newer magnetic chargers make that easier than older plug-in styles. Ultimately, going with a model that’s compatible with his current phone is probably the best move—flagship brands usually offer better accessibility features and support.
  3. I love, love, love my Legion Go. The detachable controllers mean you can pack this thing down into an iPad mini neoprene sleeve to take it somewhere. Because it fully runs windows, as much as I loathe windows (I’m a Mac girl), it’s easy to troubleshoot or figure out how to adjust your software, drivers, etc. The screen is huge and gorgeous. Can honestly say I don’t really feel like I’m playing a handheld after I’m on it awhile. Gives me the same visual/spatial feeling as a laptop. The kickstand is an ergonomic masterpiece. For me anyway. I can prop it up just right and enjoy hours of playing. And zero neck or back pain. Another detachable controller benefit — you can prop the screen up with the kickstand and give yourself the featherweight light controllers for a comfier and less-heavy / non grippy setup. The SD card a lot is easy to get to. Runs Steam AND Xbox game pass perfectly with zero hiccups. I play with mine plugged in and don’t mind that at all. It doesn’t bother me. I’m not someone who would ever take this on, like, a bus or something. I play on the couch or in bed so I’m not monopolizing the TV for my wife lol. I can honestly say that I was very torn amongst handhelds before getting the LeGo and it took me awhile to realize that most of these subs are filled with VERY passionate and opinionated people who may or may not be far pickier than you would be or may have different priorities than you do. Once I realized that myself, I was able to focus on what mattered most to me: steam AND Xbox capability, portability, and a nice screen. Those detachable controllers mean I never will have to lug around or waste half a suitcase on the huge-ass travel bag that most handhelds require. For me, that’s the win. Folks have already given a lot of great advice on here so I’ll just emphasize again: the best handheld is the one that does what YOU want it to do. The granularity about various specs and power etc may not even matter for more casual gamers.
  4. Apple is fully aware of this on the Apple forums: Carplay text after ios18 update Since ios18 update, text messages do not pop up or announce in carplay unless the vehicle screen is the carplay message screen. They will not pop up on any other screen. It will read them but but show the message. I don't want the audio announcement but I want to see the visual announcement when I'm on the radio screen

  6. I thought Apple wanted to get rid of all their devices with an N3B (A17 Pro, M3) based chip, and move everything over to N3E (A18, M4), since it's so much cheaper with higher yields. Why is Apple then using an A17 Pro instead of an A18? At least it comes with 128GB of storage as standard EDIT: Apparently the A17 Pro in this iPad has 1 fewer GPU core than what's in the iPhone 15 Pro. Maybe this is just them getting rid of the chips with a defective GPU core?
