  1. feel like all of the Deck's concessions are just necessary for what is a handheld PC. Navigating desktop mode can already be a pain on the Deck with trackpads and a larger screen but at least you can spend the majority of your time in gaming mode once you've done any necessary setup which is generally controller friendly. Windows only, isn't. And the emulation performance has been extremely impressive to me as a person that previously didn't use emulation much outside of pre-joystick systems.
  2. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to release iOS 18.1 to the public on October 28th, which will include some of the first Apple Intelligence features. This goes against previous expectations of a mid October launch, but Gurman says that this is because the company is taking its time to make sure they eliminate any bugs, and also to make sure their private cloud compute servers can handle all of the traffic from millions of public users installing the update.
  3. Anyone got their hands on the new Google pixel 9?
  4. I’d pick the compact out of those two; the extra space in the bigger one (and I think there’s an XL too) is only really useful for stupidly big GPUs or if you’re water cooling. There’s also the smaller still mini version, which will require a smaller MATX motherboard and careful GPU selection. I’d also like to point out the Pop Air, the Torrent and the North, which are all worth considering if you like how they look.
  5. I can see why you would think this, but Microsoft argues that its AI automation will remove the boring bits of jobs instead of replacing jobs entirely.. Instead of Copilot sitting idle waiting for queries, it will be able to do things like monitor email inboxes and automate a series of tasks or data entry that employees normally have to do manually. Then you can get on with doing things that require an actual working brain rather than mundane tasks that a computer could do. This is what Microsoft have said about this worry: “What makes a job, what makes a role? It’s a bunch of different tasks and generally it’s a very large number of very diverse and heterogeneous tasks. If someone did one thing over and over again, it probably would have already been automated by current technology,” says Lamanna. “We think with Copilot and Copilot Studio, some tasks will be automated completely... but the good news is most of the things that are automated are things that nobody really wants to do.” I for one can't wait for someone else to input data and monitor my inbox!
