  1. out of nowhere, a small Chinese startup called DeepSeek released one of the world's most advanced AI models, rivaling those of OpenAI, Google, and other American tech leaders. Chinese engineers accomplished this feat at a fraction of the cost, using none of the expensive, cutting-edge and prohibited US chips.
  2. Hisense is going huge at CES 2025 with its jaw-dropping UX116—yep, that’s 116 inches of pure TV glory! This mammoth display is built for those who believe bigger is always better, especially when it comes to home entertainment. Powered by Hisense’s cutting-edge ULED X technology, it delivers incredible brightness, stunning contrast, and rich, vibrant colors that pop from every angle. It’s also kitted out with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a 120Hz refresh rate, making it perfect for movie buffs and gamers alike. With its ultra-slim design and near-borderless screen, the UX116 doesn’t just dominate your living room—it elevates it. If you’re ready to go big, Hisense is making sure you don’t go home disappointed!
  3. The model boasts an upgraded Alpha 10 Gen6 processor for even sharper visuals and smoother motion. But the real star is its “Zero-Bezel” design, making the screen look like it’s floating on your wall. LG has also cranked up the brightness this year, promising better performance in well-lit rooms, and included Dolby Vision IQ Pro to optimize HDR content automatically. Oh, and it’s super thin—at just 4mm
  4. I got a lot more detail than I expected with my YouTube Music and Apple Music recaps than I did with Spotify Wrapped. I remember Spotify Wrapped being better than that. Also, some of my "tops songs" are questionable. I bounced between streaming services a lot this year, but I'll be sticking with YouTube Music and Apple Music now.
  5. Good combo, I rock them too! BM shakes my bathroom mirror😅
  6. The Pixel 9 looks like an iPhone, feels like an iPhone and costs like an iPhone. It's a pretty easy switch to make for anyone on the fence or just bored with Apple's offerings. More importantly I think it's been the advertising. In Japan at least, Google has loads of TV ads and there are Pixel demo stations in every large electronics store and every major carrier store - right next to the iPhone stands. There have been clear results, too - Pixel for a while now has been one of the biggest Android brands in Japan.
  7. 2110 + 18% GST + Service charge + backpanel adhesive complementary charge but still lower than Apple charge
  8. Hot take but the backlash against TikTok is just fear mongering. I don’t give a shit if China knows what bullshit I’m interested in. It’s not any more dangerous to me than the stuff that American companies know about me
  9. Any clue on the blood oxygen sensor/mission situation? I missed most of the watch portion. Also does the American version of AWU2 still not do blood oxygen?
  10. Not too surprising. Right on schedule actually. CEDIA is this week. And the last time that the big 3 (Sony, JVC, Epson) refreshed their projectors was 2022. So they have all been refreshing their projectors recently. The JVC NZ800 and NZ900 are already out. And the NZ700 was just shown at CEDIA as well. Epson announced their new gen of projectors a couple weeks ago. Sony was the only one left. u/Alternative-Book-986 , if your plan is to get a discounted 6000ES, you should reach out to a few Sony projection dealers and keep tabs on pricing. As the 6100ES makes its way into distribution channels, dealers will start dropping pricing on the 6000ES to get rid of existing inventory. But the price will only drop for so long before they disappear entirely. So don't hold out too long. I tried to warn people on this sub about this with the JVC NZ8 when the NZ800 came out. Some of them listened and got a good deal. Others did not and missed out. The NZ8 dropped from 16K to 12K. And then from 12K to 10K. Finally, by the end, some people were getting them for as little as $8500. But you had to pull the trigger when you found a deal, you couldn't dawdle around and "consider it" for a while. I was sending people deals for $9K NZ8s. These same people would pass on it, and then message me back 2 days later asking me what they should buy. Well too bad. That was your shot. It's gone now. Enjoy spending $16K on a NZ800.
  11. Samsung Galaxy phones received updates to bring them up to speed with the Galaxy S24 line, which shipped earlier this year. Both are guaranteed seven years of software upgrades. Samsung also added Circle to Search functionality and support for Google's Gemini virtual assistant.
  12. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs. Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Google Pixel 8 Pro vs. OnePlus 12
  13. With the announcement of the new Microsoft Copilot Plus, have they finally come up with hardware that can trump the Apple M3 processor?
