  1. This was bugging the $h!t out of me, like everyone else I went to google and tried everything. I am an IT guy so this was killing me I could not figure this out. I tried different cables, usb a, usb c, all my usb ports, nothing was working. I have this issue as well, so I reached out to apple and this is expected behavior after 3 weeks of log gathering and emails. The removed the feature in ios18 that allows us to receive the text pop up on the screen outside of the carplay app - example, sirus/xm app is on your vehicle screen, you will no longer get a text pop up, just the text sound will occur. If you want to see the text pop up you have to be in carplay! I had a friend who was still on ios17, got his phone connected to my vehicle apple carplay, zero issues with test pops in any app on my vehicle screen. Now, if you disconnect carplay and just use Bluetooth to your vehicle, everything still works - note: the display text pop up is different for every vehicle manufacture but it does pop up. I have tested this on four different vehicles and it works on Bluetooth. Chevy/GMC Jeep (uconnect software blows!) Mercedes Ford Now, if you have a newer vehicle that allows wireless carplay, you have two choices: 1-keep connecting to carplay and live with this BS change 2-remove your carplay setup for your vehicle from your phone and vehicle so it no longer recognizes your phone under carplay, and ONLY connect Bluetooth and use your vehicles Bluetooth options and menus. OH, and here is one more item that pissed me off - You can NO LONGER take a video while driving! You might ask, why the F would you take a video while driving? Glad you asked! I personally used the video option while driving and connected to CarPlay as security against bad drivers/road rage or for video evidence while driving if needed. This does work as it should while using Bluetooth. I hope this answers yalls questions.
  2. AirPods 4 (ANC) vs AirPods Pro 2: 2x less active noise cancellation No rubber tips No touch control aka can’t swipe for volume No skin sensor (uses older optical sensor) No loud sound reduction, conversation boost or background sounds 2 hours less listening time on a single charge (ANC turned on) No lanyard attachment No U1 chip for precision finding No MagSafe (no magnets in case) Biggest thing is that the AirPods Pro 2 can now be used as full on hearing aids with a software update.
  3. Microsoft is confident that it finally nailed the transition to Arm chips — so confident that, this time around, the company spent an entire day pitting its new hardware against the MacBook Air. On a recent morning at its headquarters in Redmond, Washington, Microsoft representatives set out new Surface devices equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chips inside and compared them directly to Apple’s category-leading laptop. I witnessed an hour of demos and benchmarks that started with Geekbench and Cinebench comparisons, then moved on to apps and compatibility. Benchmark tests usually aren’t that exciting to watch. But a lot was at stake here: for years, the MacBook Air has been able to smoke Arm-powered PC chips — and Intel-based ones, too. Except, this time around, the Surface pulled ahead on the first test. Then it won another test and another after that. The results of these tests are why Microsoft believes it’s now in position to conquer the laptop market.
  4. Hey, Meta have put out a statement: Meta said in a blog post, “Travel Mode turns Quest into the ultimate in-flight entertainment device, so you can watch movies on a massive virtual screen, kick back with a game or meditation app, and even get some work done in private. And thanks to our headsets’ balanced, ergonomic design, you can enjoy it all comfortably, no neck pillow required.” If you want to try out Travel Mode, you need to opt into the feature from the “Experimental features” section of the Settings app. It will then appear as a toggle in the Quick Settings menu. If the plane has a Wi-Fi network, the Quest might recognize it as an airplane network and ask you to enable Travel Mode.
  5. The biggest competition seems to be between these two tablets right now- which one to buy my wife for her birthday? I love the Samsung tablet because it looks very large (great for flights) and inredibly thin which my wife will love but I've heard amazing things about the new Apple tablet.. Would I be missing a beat by getting a Samsung tablet rather than the new Apple ipad?
  6. The Bose QuietComfort series has been my go-to travel headphones since they released the QuietComfort 35. The folding earcup design makes these headphones some of the most portable I've used, and is one of my main reasons for keeping them in my travel backpack. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra are the most comfortable headphones I've worn in a while, I alos like the sound of Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones better than the Sony WH-1000XM5. It could be because I like listening to music with string instruments, and they sound better with a more natural sound profile instead of the warmer sound profile of the XM5s. The bass is stronger on the latter, while it's more controlled on the Ultra.

    Vava 4k ultra

Like other projectors, the Vava gets significantly dimmer when displaying HDR content in order to maximize contrast. The colors look great, but by default, it’s just too dark unless you’re in a pitch-black room. You can manually brighten the image while watching HDR content, but the settings carry over when you switch back to SDR, and then everything looks too bright. Any solutions??
  8. There is speculation Samsung may be switching up its camera in favor of Sony. The news comes as Samsung's own camera division has experienced substantial losses It may affect the camera in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Good thing?
  9. Anyone know how this compares to predecessors like the 680X and Air 540? And does the design support motherboards with reverse connectors??
  10. Any reviews of how this stands up against Sony home projectors?
  11. https://history-computer.com/apple-vision-pro-vs-htc-vive-pro-2/ Pretty good article summing up the differences.
  12. https://www.engadget.com/meta-quest-headsets-get-spatial-video-playback-just-in-time-for-the-apple-vision-pro-launch-193821840.html Just seen this- does this mean spending the ridiculous amount Apple are charging for their headset is redundant.. and maybe getting the meta headset is better?
  13. https://www.gizchina.com/2024/01/29/oppo-nokia-patent-agreement-smartphone-market/ Anyone know whether this is true?
  14. Not sure if this is the right place for this.. https://www.engadget.com/microsoft-launches-mesh-a-virtual-meeting-platform-on-teams-095018763.html I've read about this virtual meeting platform which makes hybrid work a lor more accessible and will hopefully appease companies from insisting on full time back to the office. I'm looking at suggesting this to the comany I work for. Has anyone had any experience with using this?
  15. Wanting to buy a folding phone- unsure of which one to get.. anyone have any experience with an OPPO phone?
