The holiday season’s just kicking off, but tech experts are already gearing up for CES 2025, happening right after New Year’s. Based on recent trends, it’s safe to predict AI will take center stage, showing up in everything from smart home gadgets to cars. Expect the usual mix of shiny new processors, laptops, wearables, health trackers, and yes, those over-the-top massage chairs.

If you’re curious about what’s coming in January, here’s a sneak peek at what we think will headline the show!

New GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA: What to Expect in 2025

Big news for PC gamers! 2025 is shaping up to be an epic year, with NVIDIA set to unveil its long-awaited RTX 5000 series at CES and AMD’s next-gen RDNA 4 GPUs arriving early next year.

AMD especially needs a refresh—its Radeon 7000 cards were decent for mid-range gaming but fell short on ray tracing and couldn’t match NVIDIA’s AI-powered DLSS 3 upscaling. However, AMD CEO Lisa Su promises big improvements: “RDNA 4 delivers significantly higher ray-tracing performance and adds new AI capabilities,” she shared during an earnings call.

On the NVIDIA front, a juicy rumor from leaker OneRaichu hints that the RTX 5090 might be up to 70% faster than the already beastly RTX 4090 (a card we’ve called “unholy” in power). Other high-end cards in the lineup could see 30–40% boosts, which might tempt hardcore gamers with older GPUs. However, if you’re rocking an RTX 4070 or 4080, you may want to sit this one out.

For RTX 3000 series holdouts, though? 2025 might be your moment to upgrade!

Robots That Do More Than Just Vacuum

Get ready for smarter, more capable robotic assistants! At CES 2025, advanced AI-powered robots will take center stage, showing off their skills in cleaning, cooking, and even personalized help around the house. It’s a big step toward making AI a seamless part of daily life.

And it’s not just about convenience—these robots are also driving improvements in home cybersecurity, ensuring your smart gadgets stay secure while making life easier. The future of home automation is looking pretty exciting!

Will Earbuds Follow Apple’s Lead on Hearing Health?

Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 update introduced impressive hearing health features, and it’s a move competitors should consider following. While not every brand can deliver clinical-grade hearing aids, flagship earbuds could start offering basic hearing health tools.

Jabra might’ve been a natural contender, given its parent company GN’s hearing aid expertise, but the brand is sadly stepping away from earbuds. Samsung and Google could integrate similar features using their health platforms, but those announcements probably won’t happen at CES—they prefer their own flashy events.

That leaves Sennheiser, a CES regular with a track record for innovation. Last year, it launched workout-focused earbuds with heart-rate tracking and already has hearing-assist devices like the Conversation Clear Plus. It’d be exciting to see features like that make their way into Sennheiser’s flagship Momentum earbuds, though the current model is still pretty fresh.

CES 2025 will undoubtedly showcase plenty of new earbuds and assistive tech, with accessibility-focused companies and smaller innovators likely stepping up. Fingers crossed we’ll see hearing tools on earbuds people actually want to use!

    Next-Gen Android Phones Are Coming

Qualcomm’s latest powerhouse, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, debuted in October 2024, and it’s got a fresh name to match its laptop sibling, the Snapdragon X Elite. This flagship chipset is ready to take Android phones to the next level.

At CES 2025, we’ll probably see a few new phones rocking this chip—though some brands might save their big reveals for MWC later in the year. Samsung, Asus, and TCL are confirmed to be at CES, so keep an eye out for their next-gen Android devices. Exciting stuff ahead!

    Generative AI Goes Mainstream

Generative AI has been a hot topic over the past few years, and at CES 2025, it’s likely to take center stage. Expect to see AI tools that push creative boundaries—whether it’s real-time video editing, personalized gaming experiences, or music composition. Major players like Adobe and NVIDIA could unveil updates that further democratize content creation for professionals and hobbyists alike.

    Smarter Homes and Lifestyles

AI-driven smart home technology is set to become even more intuitive. Think about refrigerators that don’t just track groceries but predict your meal preferences, or security cameras that don’t just monitor but actively distinguish between familiar and unfamiliar faces. AI integration with smart home platforms like Matter will ensure that these devices work seamlessly across ecosystems.

    Personalized Health Tech

CES 2025 will showcase AI-powered health devices that go beyond step tracking. From wearables offering real-time diagnostics to virtual health assistants capable of personalized care recommendations, expect innovations that make staying healthy easier and more efficient. AI could also play a key role in accessibility tech, with devices offering tailored solutions for people with disabilities.

    AI-Powered Cars and Mobility

The automotive section at CES will see a surge in AI integration. From advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to fully autonomous vehicle concepts, AI will redefine mobility. Companies like Tesla, GM, and startups specializing in self-driving tech are expected to reveal advancements in safety, efficiency, and personalized in-car experiences.

    AI in Robotics

This year’s robotics exhibits will likely feature personal assistants powered by advanced AI. These robots will go beyond simple tasks, with capabilities like recognizing emotions, adapting to household routines, and even holding basic conversations. Whether it’s a cooking assistant or a cleaning robot, AI will make these devices feel more human-like than ever.

    Generational Advances in AI Hardware

Powering all these advancements is cutting-edge hardware. Chipmakers like NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and AMD are expected to unveil processors optimized for AI workloads, promising faster, more efficient performance. These breakthroughs will ensure AI applications—from generative models to real-time analytics—run smoothly on both consumer devices and enterprise systems.

    AI Ethics and Cybersecurity

As AI grows more pervasive, discussions around its ethical use and security will take center stage. CES 2025 will likely feature panels and exhibits addressing concerns about data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the potential misuse of AI. Look out for solutions focused on making AI both smarter and safer for everyday users.

    The Year of AI Everywhere

If CES 2025 has a defining theme, it’s the ubiquity of AI. From enhancing entertainment and communication to automating everyday tasks, AI will be woven into almost every product and service. Whether it’s refining what’s already available or introducing something entirely new, this year’s CES will show how AI is reshaping our lives in ways we’re just beginning to understand.

Get ready for a show where the tech isn’t just smart—it’s learning, adapting, and transforming the world around us.
