new monitor help!

yo gamers! im looking to upgrade my monitor, its kinda old now and not doing the job for my games. im not super clued up on all the techy stuff, but i know i want something with a fast refresh rate, like 144hz or even higher if its worth it? and maybe a curved screen? dunno if thats just a gimmick...
